Sue Lopez, whose architectural vision helped configure expansion of the
Parish House, now has a new vision to pursue. As St. Margaret’s first director for Sunday School and youth programs,
she has been pulling together curriculum and planning activities she hopes will draw more children and teens to inviting new
classrooms on the second floor.
“I want to see our program grow and
flourish,” she says. “This is a good challenge, because we have so much to offer.”
She’ll have the help of returning teachers Erin Ireland, Rachel Tribuzio, and Stephanie Taylor,
along with John Arrison and Fox Buck, who will lead the teen-age program. Children through the second grade will participate
in a Bible-centered curriculum from Morehouse Publishing called “All Things New,” which illustrates the many ways
God is present in their lives. Older children will also draw lessons from Scripture in classes focused on “Living the
Good News.”
Sue draws on her own experience as a Sunday School teacher
at St. Margaret’s for four years and as a former teacher at a Congregational Church in Unionville, CT. In her new role,
she will work 10 hours a week and lead a Vacation Bible School next summer. She will also complete the eight-hour “Safe
Church” training program required for those working closely with children and youth in the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.
